Quinque sunt que debet orator facere seu in se habere secundum Tullium: inventio, dispositio, elocutio, memoria, proanuntiatio – 5. Hec quandoque tribus rebus assequi possunt cuius universali est in omni arte practica: arte, immitatione, exercitione – 3. Inventio in sex partes secundum Tullium dignoscitur didenda: exordium, narratio, divisio, confirmatio, confutatio, conclusio – 6. Temata super quibus exordiendum et cetera quedam sunt facienda 4: honestum, turpe, dubium, humile – 4. Exordii duo secundum Tullium sunt genera: prohemium, insumatio. Effectus utriusque exordii tres esse debent, ut scilicet auditores satis: dociles (si scientiam elementorum breviter exponimus est si attentos faciemus), benivolos (A nostra persona, Adversariorum, Auditorum, A re ipsa. A nostra persona, si officium nostrum sine arrogantia laudabimus. Aut qualibet in rem publicam aut parentes aut amicos aut eos ipsos, qui audiunt aliquid <app><lem>referemus</lem><witDetail type="p. c." wit="#P1"/></app>, dummodo sit ad propositum. In odium si quis spurce, superbe, perfidiose, crudeliter, confidenter, malitiose, flagitiose factum proferemus. In invidiam – si vim, si potentiam, factionem, divitias, incontinentiam, nobilitatem, clientelas, hospitium, sodalitatem, affinitatem adversariorum proferemus, et in his magis confidere quam veritate. In contemptionem – si inertiam, ignaviam, desidiam, luxuriam. Ab auditorum persona – si res eorum fortites, sapienter, mansuete, magnifice iudicatas proferemus: et si que de hiis extimatio que iudicii sit expectatio aperiemus. Causa facti summa facti. Victorinus dicit quod sententia non valet ad probationem, sed amplificationem facti.
